Maker Speed Dater is an event where designers, makers and manufacturers get together to make new relationships quickly. Its a meet-up to make contacts in the fabrication industry and begin new pieces of work.

Making Stuff is Hard.

Maker Speed Dater was born out of a desire to break down barriers by getting face-to-face – bringing designers, makers and manufacturers together in a room, taking time to learn about each other's practices and hopefully finding some opportunities to work together.

Maker Speed Dater 1.0 –
Glasgow, Jan 2015

The inaugural Maker Speed Dater was held in Glasgow in January 2015 — taking place fittingly in a local brewery converted from an old carpet factory. Twenty designers met twenty manufacturers/makers by beer and candlelight.

Maker Speed Dater provided a relaxed environment that allowed myself the opportunity to share my skills as well as learn from a range of other like minded designers and makers

I found the Maker speed Dater an innovate format and felt a real benefit from meeting both the designers and the other manufacturers in the room. I have gone to many networking events over the years with mixed success but this really was interesting and I would definitely go back.
